"Do you remember a time in your life when everything seemed to be going wrong?"

Sometimes life just sends you into a tailspin and down you go... spirialing quicker and the ground getting closer, never knowing if you'll ever pull out of it.

Well, that's what I was going through in my life just a little while back when my girlfriend dumped me. It happens to us all at some point in our lives and this was just my time, I guess. But I sure didn't look at it very philosophically back then...

Yeah, I know... I come off like a tough macho guy most the time but I'm glad you didn't see me a few months ago... just after Elana and I broke up.

I was really devastated. I mean, it was really a "knock down - drag out" fight but without the violence. (I would never lay a hand on a woman... my dad taught me right!)

She Never Wanted to See Me AGAIN - EVER !

She told me that she never wanted to see me again - ever ! Well, that was okay by me, I had had pretty much enough of her too by then. I went over to a pal's house and just moped around for a day or two. I was pretty depressed after that.

Elana and I had spent a little over five years together and now it was over. She was gone. It was as if a big chunk of my life just disappeared into thin air. As if I had just lost a part of myself.

Well it was then, two days after, that I decided that I wanted to get back with Elana and try to patch things up. I called her but there was no answer. When the phone went over to voicemail I left a message telling her that I still loved her and wanted to get back together with her. I waited for a call back. And I waited some more.

Hmmm... Elana was being childish again and was not going to return my first call. Okay, I called her back and let her know that I wanted to patch things up and come back. Still no response. I hate to admit it now, but I then became obsessive about it. I began calling and leaving messages, texting and emailing every few hours all to no avail.

I was starting to panic. Was she really going to allow our five year relationship to end just like that?

Well, that was a side of me that I wasn 't showing Elana at the moment. So I vowed I would begin following her advice. So I stopped all communication with Elana right away and started socializing again. I was determined to move on with my life... just like the woman who wrote the article advised.

The Greatest Actor in the World

Boy, it wasn't as if I was the greatest actor in the world. I didn't know if anybody was going to see through my charade, but it was worth a try.

I began calling and visiting with Elana's and my mutual friends. We'd get together at the local pub for a few drinks at first. And then I started working out at the gym with a buddy of mine. Soon, because of my new interests in working out, I began meeting new people and I joined a group of friends in taking some classes at the local community college. By this time my "acting" was no longer an act. I was really having some fun in my life.

Since the breakup, our friends were letting Elana know that I was fine and doing new things with them and some new friends they had met through me.

My friends told me that when Elana heard that I was moving on with my life they sensed that she was a bit curious as to what was going on in my new life without her. Maybe even a little jealous of the time others were spending with me. I could only hope this was true.

During all this time, Elana was not far from my thoughts though and I figured it may be time to meet with her again just like it said in the article. But I didn't need to make any more mistakes.
